Been enjoying the show for the past year or so, but this episode is what finally got me to stop by and take the time to leave a comment.

I just wanted to thank you for being so frank and actually discussing rape culture. It is so, so frustrating to try and explain what it is again and again to my fellow (male) gamers and have them react defensively. So it was more than refreshing to hear the subject being taken seriously on your show, and to know that women gamers aren't alone in our struggle for equality in the gaming community. Just one more reason why Nitpixels is by far my favorite gaming podcast.

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 39: I have no idea how to pronounce Bakhtanians

I have abs no problem with pre ordering. I don't like it when they try to hard sell it, which is what it sounds like what happened to Mat M. I definitely don't see it as a scam, in truth. If you do, don't pre-order. I definitely will continue it. And if it makes you feel better I usually pre-order from amazon or steam.

With respect to sexual harassment, I find it odd. My employer mandates anti harassment training each year. I'm surprised that if it is a professional business that they don't either. In any event, the best way to hit them is in the pocketbook. Don't buy from them or their sponsors. If Capcom and IGN are sponsoring that crap, tell them you won't stand for it. I might even go so far to watch what ads are around it, and not buy from them, but their competitors. And then send in letters with receipts saying "guys, if you didn't support harassment, this could be your money. "

Ah, Baldur's Gate. I was excited until I remembered Pools of Radiance. So, I don't really want a BG3. But we'll see. I am thinking now about hitting GOG and playing BG... I wonder if there's a remake in NWN, I know there's an Icewind Dale, not sure about BG...

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 39: I have no idea how to pronounce Bakhtanians

Also, your comment system is acting weird. Took me several attempts to actually post anything.

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 39: I have no idea how to pronounce Bakhtanians

I've actually stopped pre-ordering games at the local EB since the Burning Crusade came out. My husband and I both wanted the collector's edition of TBC but they would only allow us the pre-order for one. So only one of us has the special edition for that and we were annoyed.
Then Wrath came out and we figured "well, maybe we'll try again." We called the store in the morning and they said "Oh, no, we're not taking preorders for the CE for that yet." I called back a couple of hours later and they had "stopped" taking preorders for the CE. I mean, seriously? Arg!

Anyway, pre-orders from EB/Gamestop are dumb.

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 38: Playing with fire

I don't really have much of a problem with Knaak. I have not read alot of his stuff tho. I did read Day of the Dragon back near when it came out, way before WoW came out. I didn't like the War of the Ancients books very much.

I like some of the Forgotten Realms fiction from way back in the day, stuff like The Crystal Shard, and Spellfire, plus some Dragonlance stuff.

Honestly, I think that most media tie ins, whether it be games/movies/tv shows are not really good examples of good writing, but most of its very solid and usually at least somewhat enjoyable. Some of the most enjoyable tie ins I have read have been some Babylon 5 books, the centauri trilogy by Peter David is quote good. Some ST books are also quite good, but the most is "meh".

My personal opinion of Christie Golden is most of her warcraft stuff is not really that good. She seems to shine in areas where she does team writing. The Fate of Jedi Star Wars series is a whole ton better than her WoW work. I honestly doubt I will buy her WoW books straight out anymore, I will just wait til I can get them from an elibrary.

I have not read the ME books, but right now I have been trying to cut my book buying down, and just get things from e-libraries.

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 38: Playing with fire

A quick response, yeah I love it personally when you go off track, I find it really interesting. I have learned so much from you guys especially when you go off track, so thank you for that. Also I am checking out Infinite Jest, I am always looking for a good book to read.

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 38: Playing with fire

(I'm so happy)

Personally, I've really enjoyed the Starcraft tie in novels. Some of them seem to really focus on telling a story from a different perspective. In particular the Starcraft Ghost books are good for letting you know who Nova is and why she is who she is. The Dark Templar Saga is also really very good for getting great Protoss lore.

In general, I love the fiction and I think much of it is wonderful. I recommend stuff that stays away from the main characters and let you get a feel for the surrounding world (universe) of Starcraft.

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 37: Back by popular demand

I didn't realize when I typed that, but all the games I referred to were Sierra Online games. I was always a fan of Roberta William's games.

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 37: Back by popular demand

I've been watching several videos on youtube of GW2, from the BFF report to the character creation to the tour of the cities. I must say I didn't really plan on getting the game because I don't need it but I'm getting really hyped for this. I'm already subbed to WoW (Damn you Yearly Sub) and SWTOR even though I don't play enough of either to justify it.

I always been pretty okay with paying a montly sub, no biggie, I'm using the servers, they are giving us content but it's starting to slowly get to me that I can buy a game and if I don't love it or just don't have time for it, I can't play it at any free time I have unless I pluck down fifteen dollars for that month.

I never played an MMO before WoW. WoW was my first MMO which I began playing just before Wrath in late 2008. I heard of them before but I wasn't going to buy a game that I had to pay for each month. Then I bought some dollar or two disc that had a trial of WoW for a couple weeks. I enjoyed it and my friend got it so we started playing it. I haven't played for a nice while now but I'm looking forward to Mist.

I tried Rift and I enjoyed it but after six months I wasn't playing it enough to keep paying for the sub. I would love to just login the game now and play it for a couple hours but I'm not going to pay the ten dollars or so to do so while I have WoW and SWTOR on my computer.

I have to pay for WoW each month but the reason I'm also subbing to SWTOR is because it is different then WoW. I am enjoying the voice acting, questing and my personal storyline along with the fact it's more Sci-Fi.

So I'm very excited for the fact we are going to get GW2, it looks like it's going to be a very good MMO that will have no monthly sub and you won't have to spend money even at the max levels to compete. I'm looking forward to buying the game and not feeling like I'm wasting money if I don't play for a few weeks. I'm also very much looking forward to the World vs World PVP. I'm not a big PVPer but that truly looks like it could be EPIC.

Now I just need to find a way to afford to buy GW2, Mass Effect 3 and of course Mist.

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 37: Back by popular demand

Yeah as soon as Mat mentioned that, I thought that would be interesting. I know they are very busy but with Mass Effect 3 coming out, Guild Wars 2 having a press beta and other gaming news, I'm hoping they won't be able to resist from doing another podcast someday soon. :)

Re: The Nitpixels Podcast Episode 37: Back by popular demand

Hello Matt, Mat and Alex.
